New Release : SKYREAL 1.20

This release is built on Unreal Engine 5.5

We are pleased to release SKYREAL 1.20 based on Unreal Engine version 5.5, you’ll need to update UE if you haven’t done so already.

Discover the full potential of MegaLights

Unreal Engine 5.5 integrates MegaLights, a technology that revolutionizes real-time rendering.
By enhancing the performance of scenes and experiences using Lumen and Nanite, MegaLights enables the generation of highly realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections, even on complex surfaces.
No compromise : This innovation offers superior graphical quality without impacting framerate performance.

Here’s a highlight of the frame rate drop comparison between versions 5.4 and 5.5 :

You get it all, breathtaking visuals and uncompromised performance.

Advanced Physics

Real-Time Multi-Physics Simulation in XR

With Advanced Physics, SKYREAL pushes XR experiences further by combining Unreal Engine’s ultra-realistic rendering with precise real-time physics simulations powered by XDE Physics ;  a multi-physics simulation engine developed by CEA List from 20 years of research.

Integrated into SKYREAL, it enables high-precision industrial simulations, handling rigid, articulated, and deformable systems using CAD data.
With XDE Physics, SKYREAL goes beyond Newtonian physics, unlocking even more realistic interactions.

SKYREAL offers 3 workbenches to use the power of XDE with you’re CAD data directly into Skyreal VR  :

1/ Complex Collisions

SKYREAL ensures precise collision handling for concave 3D objects, allowing unmatched accuracy in VR. Real-time force analysis and trajectory tracking enhance the understanding of physical interactions. Clash Detection further refines the process by automatically identifying interferences, ensuring error-free and optimized design before production.

Additionally, advanced collision management enables haptic feedback integration. When provided with precise data, haptic devices enhance immersion by delivering tangible sensations of contact and applied forces.

2/ Kinematic Constraints

Easily configurable in SKYREAL VR, kinematic constraints accurately replicate mechanical movements, supporting multiple simultaneous kinematic chains. All standard mechanical joints are available, with the ability to lock or limit each degree of freedom (DOF) for precise articulation control.

The module also manages friction and damping, adding realism and precision to interactions for more detailed industrial system analysis.

3/ Flexible Components (Cables) in VR

A key challenge in immersive design is accurately simulating flexible components with complex mechanical properties, such as Young’s modulus, flexibility/rigidity (e.g., lifting slings), and force distribution in stranded cables.

SKYREAL’s Advanced Physics module addresses this need, enabling real-time 3D simulation of flexible components directly from CAD data. Ideal for hoses and electrical cables, it ensures precision and realism. With 3D beam models integrated via XDE Physics, the system accurately simulates bending, torsion, and flexion-torsion coupling for electrical harnesses, hoses, and other flexible elements.

Skyreal VR – New Features & Extensions

Features :

Heatmap Spectator View :

We are introducing a new feature for the heatmap: the Spectator View. As the name suggests, this feature allows users to observe another user’s heatmap as a spectator, providing an unobtrusive viewing experience without disrupting the immersive experience of the user.

Environment PCG (Procedural Content Generation) :

We have updated our “nature” environment to be compatible with PCG (Procedural Content Generation) technology, enabling vegetation to be generated on the fly based on the position of CAD models in the map.
Now, you can test countless configurations by automatically and rapidly modifying the environment, all while maintaining a high level of realism.

Quick Access Commands :

We have redesigned the Viewport user interface to enhance navigation quality and simplify access to rendering and performance settings.

On demand extensions :

Tools library in desktop mode :

An extension allowing you to drag and drop tools directly from the desktop interface. The idea is to quickly prepare the necessary materials for your VR experiences right from the desktop, streamlining the setup process.

Animation Controller Extension :

Allows you to record videos based on camera tracking. It enables you to showcase your product and share it for marketing and communication purposes.

New Manikin updates :

As with every release, we’ve made some updates to the manikin. You can now use a “Firefighter” version and a “Soldier” version (based on the Horizon 2030 project of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces), each with different equipment that can be easily integrated into your Skyreal VR scenes and experiences.
At your command, captain🫡

Skyreal VR – Features improvements

Keyboard Shortcuts

To streamline the use of SkyReal VR, we have added new keyboard shortcuts, including:

  • M key: Quick access to launch the manikin
  • Arrow keys (← →): Switch between views when using “snap-to” navigation
  • New “Reset Bindings” button: Restore default key bindings easily

XR Center / Deck

Metadata Importer

This feature allows you to import metadata from a spreadsheet into Deck and use it directly in Product Explorer.

You can now add any attribute that was not imported with the 3D model or is not present in the PLM. For example, cost priorities, material data, suppliers, internal references, manufacturing orders… whatever you want.

All of this is aimed at enabling new use cases by leveraging the 3D’s filtering and KPI functionalities.

CAD Forge importer update

This update adds support for 2025 CAD formats.

Additionally, the handling of part occurrence modifications has been improved. It is now possible to read occurrence properties and apply them directly to CAD parts.

This enhancement enables a more reliable CAD import, capable of converting elements such as matrices, visibility, and color.

Merge Experience Node

It is now possible to merge all child elements under a node in the product structure in order to:

    • Optimize performance by reducing draw calls
    • Reduce the number of actors for collaboration (maximum 8,000 actors)
    • Simplify data

Mutli install SKYREAL

It is now possible to install multiple versions of SKYREAL on the same machine. This allows users to run two different Deck versions simultaneously and simplifies version management, especially for companies with both a qualification and a production environment. This way, new versions can be tested and validated before deployment, ensuring a smooth and controlled transition.

Async Loading

This feature allows interaction with data during loading. Previously, a preparation step was required before loading the map. Now, this step is eliminated, as data is loaded directly without the map—the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) is now dynamic within the experience and no longer needs to be pre-computed.
This efficiency boost not only speeds up data preparation and loading but also enables real-time interaction with data as soon as the first CAD parts are loaded.
